In Part Two, we know that the cave of Adullam was a cave of new beginnings; a cave of moulding the indomitable in spirit, soul, and body; and a cave of rebuilding of lives toward the fulfilment of destiny. We also know we must embrace the experiences of the cave before we can effectively embrace the rebuilding process of the cave.
An important point to note at this juncture is that, even if some of us are not affected by the “spears” of Covid-19, the upheavals have exposed our vulnerability to the spears of future birth pangs and shakings, whether as individuals or a church. Thus, all of us should gather at the “cave”, like the 400 men who gathered to David, and embark on the rebuilding process of the cave, because God will be shaking the heavens and the earth again in these last days, until only those things which cannot be shaken remain.
Philippians 3:12-15
Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you;
The rebuilding process of the cave involves resetting, redefining, and relaunching our journey towards destiny as foreordained by God. Yes, even the cave is foreordained by God to move us to the next level – a glorious and noble one.
To reset is to count all things in the past as loss without moaning, mourning, or holding on to past expectations. It is to forget what lies behind without looking back, like Lot’s wife. You must not let the past, whether they are achievements, investments, loss, pain, or injustice, encumber your heart, else you will not be able to redefine your future freely, and move forward with fresh impetus.
To redefine is to prayerfully realign your life and experiences according to how God appoints them in your present environment. It is to put definitions to what Christ has laid hold of you; it is to align yourself to the upward call – the purpose and mission – of God for your life and family; it is to lay hold of the will of God so that His will can be done in your life as it is in heaven; it is to let the appointed times and seasons of His Kingdom determine how you should live and act. Thus, the “daily bread” of redefinition is prayer and studying the word of God.
To relaunch is to actively work within the current settings according to the providence of the Spirit for a new future as God designs it in Christ. It is to muster everything available to you in your “cave” and act on what you have defined; it is to put feet to your prayer; it is to reach forward to what lies ahead; it is to press on towards fulfilling the goal for which God has laid hold of your heart in Christ Jesus.
What things that can be shaken will you reset and count as loss today? What resentment and unforgiveness will you let go today?
How will you redefine and realign your life according to what God has laid hold of you, according to His purpose He has for you in Christ Jesus?
What do you need to do to relaunch towards what lies ahead, and press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus?
Reset + Redefine + Relaunch = Rebuild. Let us, as many as are perfect, have this attitude in the “cave”. Indeed, this “cave” is a cave of unprecedented provision for the indomitable who hopes in God for the rebuilding of their lives and fulfilment of their destiny; for God is in the cave, and He is able to make all grace abound to you for every good work in the cave.
Are you ready to reset, redefine, and relaunch from this cave?
PS: While we look forward to rebuild from the cave, a clearer vision, or a more unencumbered mental process, would be to build from the cave, based on alignment and actions according to the fresh revelations and appointments of God in the cave. Both words are applicable, although the word “rebuild” may connote building back the same old past that can be shaken rather than a new future based on new underpinnings that cannot be shaken. Whether it is building or rebuilding, God’s intent for us is to remove the things which can be shaken from our lives, and build or rebuild on those things which cannot be shaken when God shakes the earth in the last days. This is the ultimate goal of resetting, redefining, and relaunching from the cave.
In all practicality, the cave process is a combination of rebuilding and building, since some past experiences and dealings in God may not be counted as lost but redefined.
