‘I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” He said, “Go…”‘ (Isaiah 6:8)
Judges 7:3-6
“Now therefore come, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is afraid and trembling, let him return and depart from Mount Gilead.’” So 22,000 people returned, but 10,000 remained. Then the LORD said to Gideon, “The people are still too many; bring them down to the water and I will test them for you there. Therefore it shall be that he of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ he shall go with you; but everyone of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.” So he brought the people down to the water. And the LORD said to Gideon, “You shall separate everyone who laps the water with his tongue as a dog laps, as well as everyone who kneels to drink.” Now the number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was 300 men; but all the rest of the people kneeled to drink water.
While God can use the immature, untrained, and unqualified, even a donkey, for His service, God will always trust and use the mature, trained, and qualified who are faithful, proven adequate, and ready for commissioning by Him.
Judges 6:12, 14, 16
The angel of the LORD appeared to him and said to him, “The LORD is with you, O valiant warrior.”… The LORD looked at him and said, “Go in this your strength and deliver Israel from the hand of Midian. Have I not sent you?”… But the LORD said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat Midian as one man.”
In the last days, God is preparing a company of faithful, trustworthy, and proven people who will “go in this your strength” to deliver the people of God as one man from the gates of hell that will be opened against the church, so that these gates will not prevail against it. These valiant warriors will be given the authority and power to execute and perform God’s Kingdom mission on earth, with heaven fully backing them up (c.f. Matthew 16:18-19).
With this hope of your calling, allow God to train your hands for battle from today, so that your arms can bend a bow of bronze when He separates you for His service. At that time, God will multiply the ‘five loaves and two fishes’ that you have already prepared in your hands for His commissioning, for “in the hearts of all who are skillful I have put skill, that they may make all that I have commanded you.” (Exodus 31:6)
So, strengthen yourself with every spiritual knowledge, sanctify yourself with every spiritual truth, equip yourself widely according to your gifts and functioning grace within the body of Christ, and express yourself with knowledge, skills, and wisdom for Kingdom advancement in society.
When preparation meets commissioning, great exploits ensue. So, prepare earnestly, even if you have to learn to thresh wheat in a wine press like Gideon; and when God sends you, go in this YOUR strength, O valiant warrior!
Shalom.
